Novel
Chronicles Super Submarine That
Could Be on Our Government’s Drawing Board
N.Y.
Times
best-selling author, Steve Alten’s high-tech thriller, GOLIATH,
is about a futuristic nuclear stealth submarine the length of a football
field, the shape of a giant stingray and virtually undetectable. The
sub has one more feature that separates it from all other vessels
on the seas: SORCERESS—a biochemical computer brain. Its creator,
Simon Covah—a brilliant scientist whose entire family was once victimized
by terrorism—hijacks the sub.
While
GOLIATH was written before the events of 9/11, much of what has
happened since occurs in the story. Steve comments, “Although GOLIATH
deals with nuclear proliferation and the threat of biological weapons,
the real theme is that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.”
GOLIATH
has earned many positive reviews. Publishers Weekly wrote, “Alten
offers readers, particularly young adults, much to think about, morally
and politically.” Booklist raves,
“Tom Clancy fans will devour
it!”
Alten’s other best sellers include MEG
and DOMAIN. He has made appearances on the TODAY show and Art Bell Coast
to Coast. GOLIATH paperback
will be available in bookstores by July. Also, Bantam is re-releasing
MEG in paperback (with a new cover) that will hit bookstores
soon.
