I purposely held this newsletter back until Barack Obama officially won the U.S. Presidency in a historical election that transcends politics. While my Republican fans may feel differently, I hope you will put country first and give the man a chance -- he is everything good America represents. I also look forward to the new reality show on NBC: "You betcha I'm as smart as a 1st grader," starring Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber. With that, here's your November update.
MEG Movie Update
The new script received high grades from some serious players and we're hoping
to get a commitment from a major director soon. Don't ask me who, just cross
the fingers!
New E-Store Coming In Novemebr
We're in the process of revamping the Angel's Lair E- Store at SteveAlten.com
with all new items featuring an all-new MEG logo. We'll also debut the new MEG
Read poster for 2009. We'll send out a special e-mail alert when the store opens.
Proceeds from items sold support the Adopt-An-Author program, a free nationwide
non-profit that encourages teenagers to read.
Website Updated With A New Look
The SteveAlten.com website has a new look. Visit the MEG: Hell's Aquarium link
(click on the book cover) to view a sneak peek of some of the amazing interior
artwork I had commissioned by forensics artist Bill McDonald.

The LOCH Is The Book Out Of Print?
Well, sort of. Tsunami Books, which published the original hardback and the
trade paperback (a hardcover size edition with a paperback cover) closed its
doors last year. The new mass market paperback debuts from Tor/Forge Books in
May, along with MEG: Hell's Aquarium (Variance Publishing) so no books are being
distributed. Teachers and groups needing to raise funds can purchase books (see
below).
The LOCH Fundraiser Opportunity
Looking for a way to generate money for a fundraiser? Tsunami Books has 18,000
mint condition First Editions of The Loch in a warehouse that they are willing
to sell in bundles of 500 to 1,000 for $1.00 a book! (hardback retails for $27.95).
This makes a great opportunity for teachers, who can re-sell the books to students
at a significant discount and still reap a nice profit to support your school.

How To Overcome Grief
An important article, sent in from one of my readers that deals with overcoming
the news of cancer or other debilitating diseases.

A New Feature: SHARE YOUR RECIPES
With Thanksgiving coming up, I thought it might be fun to offer readers an opportunity
to share recipes for their favorite dishes. I'll start the ball rolling with
my favorite dessert, created by my maternal grandmother, Miriam Rosen, a saint
of a woman who passed on a few years ago. If you are a chocolate lover like
me, you will love this recipe!
MOMMOM ROSEN'S FUDGE BROWNIES
Ingredients: 4 squares bakers chocolate (unsweetened), half cup of butter, 4 eggs, 2 cups sugar, 1 cup unsifted all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 cup of coarsely chopped walnuts.
Melt chocolate and butter over low heat and cool slightly. Beat eggs and gradually beat in sugar for 2 to 3 minutes. Blend in chocolate mixture. Stir in flour, then add vanilla and nuts. Spread in a greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool in pan. Makes about 2 dozen.
