- The objective is to get as many views of your
trailer as possible. You must upload the trailer
to your own YouTube Channel first - NOT TO ANY OTHER
SITE - and promote it with social networking tools
(Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, etc), blogs, and websites
by embedding/linking to your YouTube upload… anything
goes! Also, email your links to your friends/families/acquaintances
and ask them to spread the word too by embedding
your link(s) in their web footprint as well.
-KEYS TO GETTING BIG RESULTS - Be unique
and eye-catching with your TITLES! We cannot stress
enough that a simple title like Steve Alten’s Newest
Book Trailer will not get you as far as LOCH NESS
MONSTER SIGHTED! Not only will it grab more attention,
but you do not want YouTube catching on that we
are uploading the same video repeatedly due to everyone
giving the same name over and over, prematurely
ending our contest.
Winners will be determined by your final view tally
FROM ALL YOUR UPLOADS (NO LIMITS) for the contest,
and will be announced in the APRIL 2012 Alten Monthly
Newsletter. Grand Prize winners will be asked to
send in their bio and self-description to be used
in a book of Steve’s choice, labeled on the contest
page.
- TO DOWNLOAD BOOK TRAILER -
Simply right-click the TRAILER link and Save File
As on the applicable contest page. When the file(s)
have downloaded, upload them to your YouTube Channel,
and when it becomes active send the link direct
to the video along with your name to: SteveAltenContests@gmail.com.
This is your tracker! If you do not send a direct
link to your video(s) from YouTube, we will not
know that you are taking part in the competition,
and subsequently will not be entered to play.
HOW TO UPLOAD
A TRAILER TO YOUTUBE:
1. Go to www.YouTube.com.
2. Click Sign Up at the top right of the screen.
3. Create your account.
4. Once signed up and logged in, click Upload (found
at the top left of your channel page).
5. Press Upload Video and direct the next screen
to the video.
6. Input applicable information while uploading.
7. Once uploaded, allow YouTube to process.
8. Once processed, begin sharing!
HOW TO PROMOTE
THE TRAILER:
1. Go to www.YouTube.com.
2. Sign in.
3. Go to your channel and click on your video.
4. Find the box to the right of the Video (this
should have your channel name, description of the
video, and a Subscribe button).
5. Under the description, you will find the URL
and EMBED text boxes.
TO LINK:
6. From the URL text box, select the text and copy/paste
the HTML code applicably (Sample: My favorite author
is Steve Alten!). Typically this is done with HTML
editors, though many blogs and MySpace pages allow
this; also can be used via Twitter and Facebook
feeds/status updates (http://...
).
TO EMBED:
7. From the EMBED text box, select the text and
copy/paste the code into your blog, website, MySpace
and Facebook pages (and anyplace else that allows
embedded videos!)
