About The
Program
Adopt-An-Author first began when high school English and
Language Arts teachers around the country started using Meg;
A Novel of Deep Terror (rated #1 book for reluctant readers)
to motivate their students to read. When author Steve Alten
learned of his novel's success in the classroom, he used his
background in education to formalize the non-profit program,
pooling together teacher's ideas and curriculum, while creating
a means of allowing students to have direct contact with himself
and other authors.
